COURSE
This course has been structured for delegates who are requested to use oxy-acetylene equipment in production or maintenance work and to develop their skills, knowledge and safe working practices relevant to this process.
CONTENT
Introduction and registration
Self assessment question paper
Safety as applied to oxy-acetylene welding equipment.
Basic principles of the oxy-acetylene welding process.
Preparation cutting, cleaning, fitting and fluxing.
Joint designs and applications.
Joint defect: - causes and control.
Lap joints, butt joints, fillet joints, swaged joints.
Weld positions – Butt welds: - flat, vertical and horizontal.
Weld positions – Fillet welds: - flat, horizontal vertical and vertical.
Weld position lap joints flat, vertical and horizontal
Weld positions on silver solder applications (Pipe) – rotated,
Horizontal, fixed, vertical, overhead and axis 45°.
MATERIALS
Mild steel, copper, brass and aluminium.
