BASIC M.A.G (METAL ACTIVE GAS) M.I.G (METAL INERT GAS)
WELDING COURSE
This course is designed for delegates who are requested to set and safely operate M.I.G
welding equipment. To develop the basic skills and knowledge in this process.
CONTENTS
Safety as applied to the M.I.G welding process (lecture and videos).
Welding defects (porosity, lack of fusion, undercut etc).
Fault analysis and correction.
Requirements for a good weld.
Gas identification and application.
Identification of controls.
Setting and adjusting controls for welding modes (spray & dip transfer).
Types of filler wire and applications.
Basic joint designs.
Butt joint and fillet joints.
Positional welding as follows:
Flat, horizontal-vertical, horizontal overlay and vertical overlay.
Weld joints to be completed on mild steel.
Routine equipment maintenance.
