SUPERVISORS WELDING APPRECIATION COURSE
The contents of this course shall give supervisory engineering staff an appreciation of the standards requested in production and maintenance welding and also an awareness of the possible problems, which may be encountered. Foremost is the Health & Safety requirements relevant to the welding processes involved, this is covered by a lecture and videos.
This course is not intended to teach welding but practical demonstrations are given. It also gives you the opportunity to seek recommendations on welding problems pertinent to the manufacturing processes involved.
CONTENTS
Safety as applied to the welding process (lecture and videos)
Identification of welding defects (porosity, undercut, slag traps, cracking etc)
Principles of MMA, MIG and TIG processes.
Recommendations on volts and amperage settings.
Types of electrode (consumable and non-consumable)
Welding gases where requested.
Welding joint designs and applications.
Butt joints, fillet joints.
Positional welding/horizontal vertical, vertical up, vertical down and overhead.
Tasks can be emulated pertinent to the requirements in the workplace.
