PRACTICAL MAINTENANCE WELDING COURSE
This is a general course designed for delegates to develop their practical and theoretical knowledge including setting and safely operating welding equipment. To instruct them in the various techniques to deal with typical welding problems which may occur in maintenance work.
CONTENTS
Safety as applied to the welding processes.
Welding defects (porosity, undercut, slag traps)
Principles of the M.M.A (manual metal arc) process.
Volts and amperage setting.
Types of electrode.
Joint designs and applications.
Butt joints, fillet joints.
Positional welding-horizontal vertical, vertical up, vertical down and overhead.
Subject to request and material availability
M.M.A applications on cast iron
Oxy-acetylene welding of mild steel, fillet and butt welds.
Bronze welding of mild steel and various metals can be included.
•Tasks can be emulated pertinent to the requirements in the work place.
